Pukaha Mount Bruce Garden Fundraiser

Dursley Garden is included in the Pukaha Mount Bruce Garden Tour for the first time this year. November is an absolutely stunning time at Dursley with so much spring action. Judith will be selling her usual Devonshire teas, as well as introducing her Bed and Breakfast suite to visitors. Yes, the garden is a little out of the way from the rest of the gardens (15 minutes north east of Masterton), but a lovely drive through the Bideford valley. Worthwhile coming out to meander around the paths, and just relax in the welcoming atmosphere Judith has created. Here are a few photos to whet your appetite, from Novembers past.......

Cyclamen under the trees

If you are thinking of coming out to visit the Dursley garden, now is a great time to come, and you will get to see the thousands and thousands of cyclamen flowering under the 100 year old trees. They form a carpet of pinks and white. Just gorgeous. Should still be going strong for a few more weeks yet. Come on out and have a look at the perennial borders, too, as well as the autumn flush of roses and lilies. Still loads happening at Dursley.

Pink lilies

Not forgetting the bright pink lilies. Attention seekers!!

Lilies

Lilies in every possible shade of pink, apricot, white, yellow............ The lilies have been outstanding at Dursley this year. For well over a month now they have been in full glory. Don't ask me to identify any - but Judith knows them all by name. In fact, many are bred by Judith by crossing the pollen between various varieties. So even two yellows side by side wil have subtle variations - just gorgeous.

The garden is ablaze with colour at the moment. Do come out. Judith would love to see you.

Martagon Lilies

The Martagon Lilies are flowering under the 100 year old oaks, right through December. They really are special. So subtle compared to their bold cousins! So lovely up close when you can see their little freckles...

Lilies......

 It is that time of year when the lilies are in full song at Dursley. Judith has a succession of varieties coming through, so they go on for months. The Asiatics are just glorious at the moment - and soon the incredibly fragrant Christmas Lilies will be out. Can't wait! Gorgeous in the garden , and also filling the house with fragrance when picked for the table.

And not to be outshone - the peonies are vying for attention in other parts of the garden!

 As with many species, the male seems to be 'prettier' than the female! We are not certain of the botanical name of the Clematis at Dursley, but it is likely to be the female of it's form. Isn't this a fascinating contrast between the two different vines?
Does anybody out there know exactly which clematis the second plant is?
