November @ Dursley

November has been very hot and dry at Bideford. Still the roses, rhododendron, paeonies and many other plants are persevering in the heat, and looking gorgeous.

The garden has had loads of visitors, too. Judith has been busy making Devonshire teas on the weekends. Yum.

Mid-October @ Dursley

These photos were taken yesterday, and highlight some of the vibrant colours in Judith's spring garden, from Rhododendrons, dwarf irises, Spanish and English Bluebells, and the beautiful Prunus in full flower. Superb time to visit.

September is a great time to visit Dursley. Make the most of the spring sunshine (!) and come on out. The hellebores, daffodils and other bulbs are in full flight in all areas of the garden - under the huge old trees, in the main garden, or down in 'Dingly Dell'. Very picturesque. The many deciduous trees are highlighted in winter, as well, with bare branches having their own beauty.

A Garden for All Seasons

There is never a time at Dursley when the garden is completely dormant. Judith has planted the garden in layers so that when one thing finishes, another is just starting. Visiting at different times of the year enables the seasonal changes to be appreciated. The colours in winter are more subtle than the vibrancy of high summer for example.
